Blogger Collaboration Will Make You A Better Blogger With Little Effort
Blogger collaboration is essential to growing your blog and it’s often
When is the last time you worked with another blogger in some way? Maybe you swapped guest posts or promoted a contest together? Or maybe you haven’t collaborated in a while? Or ever?
A few of the Facebook groups for bloggers have a “collaboration day” where you can post how you’re looking to work with another blogger.
One group, in particular, is dedicated to allowing people to post that they are “In Search Of” often labeled “ISO” other posts to link to for a list post or roundup that they are creating. Other than that, I don’t see much out there in the way of collaboration opportunities.
There are so many phenomenal reasons to collaborate with other bloggers! Don’t believe me? Let’s go through a few reasons now.
GROW YOUR NETWORK
Just like when you’re in sales or searching for a job, a key ingredient to being successful is growing your network. It’s the same idea when you collaborate with other bloggers. There are benefits to knowing and befriending other bloggers and one of the biggest for most of us is that they “get it.” So many of us have people in our lives that don’t understand what we do as bloggers and that can be so frustrating. When you build relationships with bloggers, you know they get it and can talk about blogging without worry.
So you’re guest blogging on another blog that has a similar audience. I mean, why else would your content be there? You should only be choosing similar blogs or at least blogs that cover the same topics as you do. What I mean is, if you’re a travel blogger, your probably not going to guest post on a DIY/Craft blog, am I right?
So you’re reaching a new audience that has the potential to be really interested in what you have to say, and in reality, will be pretty darn interested in you and your blog. Which means awesome exposure for you.
INCREASE YOUR AUTHORITY
We talked about becoming an authority in your niche, and this is just another way to do that. When you’re published on another blog or online platform, those people viewing your content already have trust in the blog they are visiting and that blog is saying you know your stuff too. Not to mention your content will speak for itself.
BUILD YOUR BRAND
Having your brand in place before you start collaborating is important. You should have your elevator pitch, your logo, everything in place so that when you have a guest post or some type of collaboration you’re able to reflect your brand within that collaboration. If your brand focuses largely on images, make sure that whatever images are used align with your brand. If you’re including a bio on a guest post, remember to include all or part of your elevator pitch.
CREATE A MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL PARTNERSHIP
While you may think that you’re getting all the goodies out of guest posting or other collaborations, the truth is you’re helping the other blogger out too.
Whatever blogger collaboration it might be, you’re allowing that blogger to share awesome content that came from you in one way or another and that makes their lives easier too.
BREAK THROUGH BARRIERS
Sometimes all we need to do as bloggers is catch a break. And one of the best ways to do that is through collaboration. Like we discussed above, getting exposure to different audiences has an impact, but you may find yourself collaborating with a blogger that has far greater reach than you do, which allows you to quickly and (nearly) effortlessly bash those barriers that have been holding you back for one reason or another.
MORE CONTENT, BETTER QUALITY
It’s just like working on a project with a team. No matter how much we don’t want to admit it, the more people involved, the more that gets done. We are only one person with limited time. So, for example, if you’re creating a list of DIY crafts to do with young children, how long do you think it would take you to come up with 15 or maybe only 7 crafts? Now how long would that same amount take you if you had 6 or 14 other bloggers allowing you to share one of their crafts?
(Psst! The answer is FAR less time.)
